Granville Park Lawn Bowls Club

Celebrating 100 Years in 2015!!

The Nancy Malloy Women's Triples

The Nancy Malloy Women's Triples was instituted in 1998 and is held every year in early July in honour of slain Red Cross nurse and former Granville Park member, Nancy Malloy.  If you would like to learn more about Nancy, you can click on the following link: www.redcross.ca/article.asp

The tournament is played as a limited round robin, teams playing 4 10-end  or 3 12-end games according to the current Laws of the Sport.  The winner is determined by the team which has won the most games.  If there is a tie, the winner is determined by the team with the best shot differential.  The event has attracted some top women bowlers, including provincial and national champions as well as national team members.

As an interesting note, the first year this tournament was held, it was a club tournament and was mixed triples.  As a result, there is one man's name on this women's triples plaque - Tony Boucher.  Thus, the first (and only) home team to win the event is the team of Betty Carson in 2004.
